The second goal involves helping Muslims who oppose Islamist goals and wish to offer an alternative to Islamism's depravities by reconciling Islam with the best of modern ways. As for Israel, it faces the same existential threat as before. It gains from Hamas's near isolation from the West, from the fractured Palestinian movement, and from its having a single address in Gaza. Also, it benefits from having an enemy, Hamas, overt in its intention to eliminate the Jewish state, rather than dissimulating, like Fatah. (Fatah talks to Jerusalem while killing Israelis, Hamas kills Israelis without negotiations; Fatah is not moderate, but crafty; Hamas is quite purely ideological.) But Israel loses when the fervor, discipline, and stern consistency of totalitarian Islam replace Fatah's incoherent, Arafatian mish-mash. जहाँ तक इजरायल का सम्बन्ध है तो इसके समक्ष पहले की भाँति ही अस्तित्व का खतरा विद्यमान है। इसे पश्चिम की ओर से हमास के लगभग बहिष्कार, फिलीस्तीनी आन्दोलन में टूट-फूट और गाजा की ओर से एकमात्र ध्यान दे पाने का लाभ हुआ है। इसके अलावा इसे यहूदी राज्य को नष्ट करने के आशय के स्पष्ट शत्रु का लाभ भी हुआ है न कि फतह की भाँति आडम्बरी शत्रु । ( फतह इजरायल वालों को मारकर जेरूसलम से बात भी करता है जबकि हमास बिना बातचीत के इजरायल वालों को मारता है, फतह नरम नहीं है पर दिखाता है जबकि हमास विचारधारागत है) परन्तु इजरायल के लिए अब फतह जैसे अराफाती रणनीति वाले संगठन का स्थान उत्साही , अनुशासित और कड़ी नियमिततावाले अधिनायकवादी इस्लाम ने ले लिया है।
