They are separated by the valleys of the rivers Lippe ( northern boundary of the Haard with the other two ridges ) and a line from the Halterner M�hlenbach via the Halterner Stausee and Stever river to its confluence ( eastern boundary of the Hoher Mark with the " Borkenbergen " ).

The section of the RE 11 from Duisburg via Krefeld to M�nchengladbach that is no longer served by the RE 11 was replaced by the RE 42 ( " Niers-Haard-Express " ), which was upgraded from the RB 42 and extended from M�nster via Essen, M�lheim, Duisburg and Krefeld to M�nchengladbach.
