Since 1991, the building built by Constantin Lipsius on Br�hl's Terrace between 1887 and 1894 the glass dome of which is also known as Lemon Squeezer due to its form has been heavily renovated and the parts that were destroyed during World War II were reconstructed.

Race Director Dr . Jacob Simonsen ( the " Chief LeMon squeezer " ) has established 24 Hours of LeMons as a Nationwide series with 3-4 events per year and the inclusion of a unique 24 hour " day / night " race, including races at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park in Taupo, Hampton Downs and Pukekohe Raceway.

Robert Baden-Powell learned of the practicality of the Boss of the Plains hat through his association with Frederick Russell Burnham during the Second Matabele War of 1896-97, and he popularized the " lemon squeezer " style ( i . e . flat brim with four dents at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock ) during the Siege of Mafeking in the Second Anglo-Boer War.
