I would bet that a control experiment with some light point in random motion ( or some other insect / small animal, which could be easier to arrange ) captured the same way would give the exact same " split " of data points.

The light points at the work surface, and the camera snaps 1, 500 " pictures " a second, reporting the changes as movement back to the PC . That's a much faster report rate than you get with a traditional mouse, resulting in smoother onscreen movement.

The prints of Brentel are etched with a very light point; and his monogram is found on a series of landscapes orhamented with historical subjects and rich borders, and bearing the dates 1617 and 1619 . There are proofs of these borders without the landscapes and figures.
