The structure has two transmission eigen-modes which are the differential mode ( conductors a and b driven with equal amplitude but opposite phase voltages with respect to conductor c ) and the common mode ( conductors a and b driven with the same voltages with respect to conductor c ).

On the newer models using the 8V engine the system uses the popular wasted spark system as well . ( as also used in Ford EDIS ), combining one coil for 2 plugs on opposite phase sister cylinders like 1-4, 2-3 on 4 cylinder engine . ( similar setup with 3 coils for 6 cylinders is used on Alfa V6 engines ).
