India cannot grow the same way as China, though, even if it does pursue low-cost manufacturing just as avidly. India is a functioning democracy, where local governments do battle with New Delhi and small constituencies make their voices heard. Libya : With most Americans not quite realizing it, their government haphazardly went to war on Mar. 19 versus Mu'ammar al-Qaddafi's Libya. Hostilities were barely acknowledged , covered with euphemism (“kinetic military action, particularly on the front end”) and without a clear goal. Two Obama administration principals were out of the country - the president in Chile, the secretary of state in France. Members of Congress, not consulted, responded angrily across the political spectrum . Some analysts discerned a precedent for militarily attacking Israel . सम्भवतः ओबामा इस मामले में सौभाग्यशाली हैं कि कद्दाफी का पतन शीघ्र ही हो जायेगा। लेकिन कोई नहीं जानता कि विद्रोही कौन हैं और यह प्रयास लम्बा भी खिंच सकता है , मँहगा , आतंकवादकारक और राजनीतिक रूप से अलोकप्रिय भी बन सकता है। यदि ऐसा होता है तो लीबिया ओबामा का इराक बन सकता है और यदि इस्लामवादी देश में नियंत्रण प्राप्त कर लेते हैं तो इससे भी बुरी स्थिति बन सकती है।

On June 10, the CIC published an apology and retraction : “The Canadian Islamic Congress and Ms. Valiante apologize without reservation and retract remarks in the column that suggest that Dr. Daniel Pipes is a follower of Hitler or that he uses the tactics of Hitler or that he wants to ethnically cleanse America of its Muslim presence.” The CIC also sent funds to cover my legal expenses and made a donation in my honor to a Canadian charity. Here is my logic for this reluctant suggestion: Evil forces pose less danger to us when they make war on each other. This (1) keeps them focused locally and it (2) prevents either one from emerging victorious (and thereby posing a yet-greater danger). Western powers should guide enemies to stalemate by helping whichever side is losing, so as to prolong their conflict. This policy has precedent. Through most of World War II, Nazi Germany was on the offensive against Soviet Russia and keeping German troops tied down on the Eastern Front was critical to an Allied victory. Franklin D. Roosevelt therefore helped Joseph Stalin by provisioning his forces and coordinating the war effort with him. In retrospect, this morally repugnant but strategically necessary policy succeeded. And Stalin was a far worse monster than Assad. Stalin, Saddam Hussein ... and Bashar al-Assad? विश्लेषक इस बात से सहमत होंगे “ सीरिया के शासन की क्षमतायें बडी तेजी से कम हो रही हैं” ,कदम दर कदम यह पीछे हट रहा है और विद्रोहियों को सफलता मिलना और इस्लामवादियों का विजयी होना लगभग तय है। इसके उत्तर में मैं तटस्थ रहने की अपनी नीति को बदल रहा हूँ और एक मानवतावादी और दशकों तक असद शासन का शत्रु होने के चलते इस पर लिखने से पूर्व कुछ साँस लेना चाहता हूँ ।

Its pressure on Mr. Jones further eroded freedom of speech about Islam and implicitly established Islam's privileged status in the United States, whereby Muslims may insult others but not be insulted. This moved the country toward dhimmitude , a condition whereby non-Muslims acknowledge the superiority of Islam.
