When bosses fire people, they have a large and colourful lexicon to draw upon : dismiss, lay off, downsize, let go, dump, give a pink slip to, show the door, terminate, discharge, cashier, kick to the curb, declare redundant, release.

Following the mass arrest of Jews in Paris known as the Vel'd'Hiv Roundup on 16 and 17 July 1942, " L'Heure Bretonne " published a front page article entitled " ?la porte les juifs et les enjuiv�s " ( " Show the Door to the Jews and the Judaized " ) under the signature " DR ".

One of these shows the door to a house in Paris and has underneath the note :'Here, boulevard des Batignolles, lives to-day, she who was'la Grande Th�r�se " . ( Ici, boulevard des batignolles, demeure aujourd'hui celle qui fut'la Grande Th�r�se'. ) On the second photo the note beneath says :'Behind these windows with the white curtains, Th�r�se Humbert meditates on her past'.
