An overlapping but even simpler classification scheme just counts the number of spindles, or drives, built into the notebook : 3-spindle units are the big, full-featured ones; 2-spindle drives correspond to the " thin and light " category; and mini-notebooks and subnotebooks fall into the single-spindle bin.
