When Platt was recruited to lead the newly founded Harvey Mudd College in 1956, he was a highly respected teacher and physicist at the University of Rochester, where he worked on the design and construction of the 240-million-volt synchrocyclotron.

While in Lund, Leksell was apparently able to evade many of his clinical obligations because he was able to initiate a close collaboration with a team of physicists led by Borje Larsson at the University of Uppsala ( north of Stockholm ) where a synchrocyclotron was available.
23.
Comparisons were frequently drawn between the second cyclotron at the Harvard Cyclotron Laboratory and the Harwell Synchrocyclotron, and in 1974 clinicians from Oxford's Radcliffe Infirmary led by Dr T Hockaday floated plans to replicate the proton therapy work carried out at Massachusetts General Hospital with the accelerator.

Peter Jenni participated in CERN experiments at the Synchrocyclotron ( 1972 / 3 ), at the Proton Synchrotron ( 1974 / 6 ), and as ETHZ Research Associate at the Intersecting Storage Rings ( ISR ) ( 1976 / 7 ), the first high-energy hadron collider.

In 1956, soon after the founding of CERN, in Geneva, Gentner was appointed " Direktor der Abteilung Synchrozyklotron " ( Director of the Synchrocyclotron Department ) and " Direktor der Forschung " ( Director of Research ), positions which he held until October 1958.

To accommodate increased mass the magnetic field may be modified by appropriately shaping the pole pieces as in the isochronous cyclotrons, operating in a pulsed mode and changing the frequency applied to the dees as in the synchrocyclotrons, either of which is limited by the diminishing cost effectiveness of making larger machines.

In the late 1940s and 1950s, Fox was part of the Carnegie Tech team that created the then state-of-the-art 450 MeV synchrocyclotron at the Indian Institute of Technology, in Kanpur, first as a visiting faculty member, and then as administrative head of the Kanpur Indo-American Program.
28.
In 1946, after the discovery of the phase stability and the synchrotron principle by Weksler and Edwin McMillan, he collaborated with a group of physicists consisting of Ed Lofgren, Ken MacKenzie, Bernard Peters, Fred Schmidt and Byron Wright in converting the fixed-frequency 37-inch cyclotron at Berkeley to the first synchrocyclotron.
29.
Her research shifted into nuclear reactions using synchrocyclotrons around 1960, and in 1962 she received a doctorate in science from Kyoto University for her thesis, " tude du type d invariant de l interaction Gamow-Teller en dsintgration ? " de 6 He " ( Form of Gamow-Teller invariant interaction on beta decay of 6 He ).
