In a subsequent study of 129 elderly men and women with systolic hypertension, Dr . Kim Sutton-Tyrrell of the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health and Dr . Sidney K . Wolfson Jr . of the University of Pittsburgh Medical School demonstrated that treatment to reduce systolic blood pressure appeared to slow the progress of carotid artery stenosis as measured by the duplex scanner.
