At the beginning of the Paleogene geologic period a second wave of tectonic movements took place causing a further shift . The third wave of movements during the Paleogene and Neogene resulted in a more complex tectonic structure.

On the flanks of the massif is the Ribeira Grande Graben, a tectonic structure oriented northwest-southeast, in addition to other regional fractures and radial faults that formed other scoria and pumice cones, or lava domes.
23.
The abundance of tectonic structures ( e . g . wrinkle ridges, graben, and tessera ) in proximity to Irnini Mons provides indications for the regional stress orientation of the shallow crust, as well as local timelines.
24.
However, these terranes may be incidental to the OWL, as there are suggestions that local tectonic structures may be substantially affected by deeper and much older ( e . g ., Precambrian ) basement rock, and even lithospheric mantle structures.

They argue that the rise in sea level estimated by Fairbanks from cores is an artifact created by differential tectonic uplift between different sides of a tectonic structure lying between the two Barbados cores used to identify meltwater pulse 1B and calculate its magnitude.

Tracers injected in the Kujbyshevskaja Cave and the Iljukhina System were detected in the Kholodnaja Rechka and Reproa springs, proving groundwater flow to the south-southwest across major tectonic structures over a distance of 13 16 km as the crow flies ( Figure 1 ).

The tectonic structure of Arabika is dominated by the axis of the large sub-Caucasian anticline ( oriented NW SE ), with the gently dipping southwestern mega-flank, complicated by several low-order folds, and steeply dipping northeastern flank ( Figure 3 ).

Numerical models also show that the evolution of orogens, their final tectonic structure, and the potential development of a high plateau, all are sensitive to the long term climate over the mountains, for example, the concentration of precipitation in one side of the orogen due to orographic lift under a dominant wind direction.

The results of his research were summarized in a five volume monograph " The Geological research of Klippen zone of the Western Carpathians " ( 1931-1955 ), " Apercu de la Gologie des Carpathes occidentales de la Slovauie centrale " ( 1931 ), three volumes of " The Geology of Czechoslovak Carpathians " ( 1958-1965 ) and monograph " Grundriss der Tektonik der Nrdlichen Karpaten " ( 1968 ), which is considered one of the highlights of synthesis of the tectonic structure of the Western Carpathians based on the principles of the geosyncline theory.
