These rituals consisted of vows like fire-walking , “ locking ” the mouth with a sharp needle , making an incision on one 's body anil offering blood , carrying human waste over the head , whipping oneself , burning lamps on finger-tips , etc . आग पर चलना , तीखी सुई से मुंह छेद कर बन्द कर लेना , अपने अंगों को छेद लेना , मारना और उंगलियों से जलता दिया बुझाना Zआदि किस्त के संकल्प इन अनुष्ठानों में आते थे .

When Sree Krishna reminded Arjuna about the ruthlessness shown towards his son Abhimanyu and wife Panchali and the vow of Panchali and encouraged him to kill karna, Arjuna took a blessed arrow and killed him by setting his body and head apart. तब श्रीकृष्ण अर्जुन को उसके द्वारा किये अभिमन्यु वध कुरु सभा में द्रोपदी को वेश्या और उसकी कर्ण वध करने की प्रतिज्ञा याद दिलाकर उसे मारने को कहते है तब अर्जुन ने एक दैवीय अस्त्र से कर्ण का सिर धड़ से अलग कर दिया।
