Our research takes us to tropical and temperate forests , the deep sea , polluted waterways and places where deforestation , urbanisation and changing climates are threatening habitats and endangering species . हमारा शोध हमें उष्ण-कटिबंधीय तथा शीतोष्ण वनों , गहरे सागर , प्रदूषित जलमार्गों तथा ऐसे स्थानों पर ले जाता है जहां वनों की कटाई , शहरीकरण तथा जलवायु के परिवर्तन से प्राकृतिक वासों तथा प्रजातियों के अस्तित्व को खतरे की आशंका है .

Workers in mines , and in industries like that of pottery , ceramics , granite carving and sand blasting , run a risk of contacting this disease which in the early stages shows no subjective symptoms but gradually leads to cough and shortness of breath . खनन , पौटरी उद्योग , सिरेमिक्स , ग्रेनाईट की कटाई और बालू की खुदाई जैसे उद्योगों से जुड़े श्रमिकों में यह बीमारी होने का खतरा सबसे अधिक होता है , जिसका शुरू-शुरू में तो पता नही चलता है परंतु धीरे-धीरे खांसी और सांस उखड़ने जैसे लक्षण दिखाई देने लगते हैं .

Beyond the Bombay-Poona region , where the soft trap-rock formations were exploited for excavation of chaityas and viharas , further north and north-west , the laterite hills as in Junagad , afforded the venue for such excavations ; laterite when freshly exposed being equally soft and tractable . इस क्षेत्र यानी बंबई तथा पूना के अतिरिक़्त इसके उत्तर तथा पश्चिमोत्तर में जूनागढ़ आदि में भी इस प्रकार के चैत्य तथा विहारों का निर्माण हुआ-कारण वहां भी फंदानुमा कम कठोर मखरैले पत्थर की चट्टानें थीं.मखरैला पत्थर यदि अनावृत्त हो तो वह भी उतना कठोर नहीं होता तथा उसमें कटाई छंटाई सुगम एवं सरल होती है .

Sunderlal Bahuguna , the founder of the renowned ' Chipko ' movement has described this as thus : ” The clear-felling of the forests for apple cultivation and apple packing cases , the reckless resin tapping of the chir pines and the construction of motorable roads in the hillsare all taking a heavy toll of the Himalayan forest cover . विख्यात चिपको आन्दोलन के जनक सुंदरलाल बहुगुणा ने इसकी इस प्रकार से व्याख्या की है ; ” सेब की खेती तथा उनकी पैकिंग के लिए डिब्बे तैयार करने के लिए वनों की कटाई , चीड़ और देवदारू के वनों से अंधाधुंध राल निकालने और पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों में मोटर वाहनों के लिए सड़कों का निर्माण-इन सभी से हिमालय के वनों का काफी विनाश हो रहा है .
