The first thing to be noticed is that from the point of view of artistic skill and technical perfection , the Ajanta painting had reached such a high standard that it must be regarded as the resultrof development over centuries . पहली बात जिस पर कला -कौशल और याZत्रिकीय दृष्टि से ध्यान दिया जाता चाहिए , अजंता की चित्रकलाएं ऐसे ऊचे स्तर पर पहुंच गयी थी.कि उन्हें कई शताब्दियों में हूए विकास का परिणाम मानना चाहिए इसे केवल अजंता कला का दक्षिण की द्रविड़ संस्कृति के माध्यम से सिंधु सभ्तयता के साथ संबंध बताते हुए समझाया जा सकता हे क़्योंकि वैदिक संस्कृति , जो उत्तर भारत में बौद्ध संस्कृति का अग्रदूत थी , की नाम मात्र को भी कोई चित्रकला थी , ऐसा ज्ञात नहीं होता .
