It is the belief that after the death if the ashes of the body are immersed in Ganga then such a person will achieve the divine completion (moksh), also it will be the wish of some people that their life be immersed on the banks of the river Ganga or their funeral (last rites) be done on the banks of the river| मरने के बाद लोग गंगा में अपनी राख विसर्जित करना मोक्ष प्राप्ति के लिये आवश्यक समझते हैं यहाँ तक कि कुछ लोग गंगा के किनारे ही प्राण विसर्जन या अंतिम संस्कार की इच्छा भी रखते हैं।
