.Usually, air pollution quality is of two types. Standards of the first type (like the American National Ambient Air Quality Standards, which prescribe the maximum concentrations for the significant pollutants) are implemented by the regulations of environmental agencies, which are expected to achieve the targeted levels. Second type ( like the Air Quality Index in North America) which, along with different limits, takes the form of an index which is used to make the public aware of the risks associated with overseas activities.
