Subsequently , the project was reformulated for a capacity of 32,000 tonnes of stainless steel sheets/strips at an estimated cost of Rs 187 crores and was approved in 1977 . अन्तत : परियोजना को 187 करोड़ रुपये की अनुमानित लागत से 32,000 टन की स्टेनलैस स्टील की चादरें और पट्टियां बनाने की क्षमता के लिए पुनर्वर्द्धित किया गया तथा सन् 1977 में अनुमोदित किया गया .

Though the Tatas had come of age , the Mysore plant had a modest capacity and the first steel was made at the Steel Corporation of Bengal 's Works at Burnpur only in 1939 . यद्यपि टाटा उद्योग अपनी किशोर अवस्था में आ चुका था , मैसूर संयंत्र की क्षमता सीमित थी और प्रथम इस्पात सन् 1939 में ही बर्नपुर के स्टील कार्पोरेशन आफ बंगाल वर्क़्स में निर्मित किया गया था .
