In 1485, some twenty-one years after his death, Somerset, along with Jasper Tudor, had all acts of attainder against him annulled in the first Parliament of Henry VII, " for their true and faithfull Allegeaunces and Services doune to the said blessed King Herrie [ VI ] ."

George Seton, 5th Earl of Winton, William Gordon, 6th Viscount of Kenmure, William Maxwell, 5th Earl of Nithsdale, James Radclyffe, 3rd Earl of Derwentwater, and William Murray, 2nd Lord Nairne, were among those captured and later sentenced to be executed for treason under an act of attainder.

His son Joseph Wickham ( died 1749 ) inherited the island and his son Parker became the owner of the island in 1779 . The island and other nearby lands in Suffolk County were confiscated in 1779 during the American Revolution by act of attainder, and Wickham, a Loyalist, was banished from the state.

Following the Lord Deputy's raid, the Earl was charged with treason and the Act of Attainder ( Nov . 1495 ) charged him with " encouraging ?Hanlon, " among other acts against the King . ?Hanlon and Magennis testified on behalf of Kildare, in a deposition taken by the Archbishop of Armagh, Octavian de Palatio.

The king felt the need to make amends to the dead earl s family, for in an attempt to conciliate Thomas son, James, who was then about twenty years of age, and whose title to the earldom the king clearly acknowledged immediately and unequivocally, despite Tiptoft s act of attainder, Edward IV granted him the palatinate of Kerry, together with the town and castle of Dungarvan.

He was included in the act of attainder in 1798 as one concerned in the rebellion; but in 1803, on the death of his father, he returned to Ireland, and appeared at the bar of the king s bench, when the attainder was reversed, with the assent of the attorney-general, on proof of Turner's absence from Ireland for upwards of a year prior to the outbreak of the insurrection.

Lord Burlington ( as he was usually known for short from 1664 onwards ), along with several other noblemen and Bishops of the Church of Ireland, were opposed to the attempts of William of Orange in England, King James removed to Ireland where he called a parliament in 1689, which passed a general act of attainder against the Protestants, and confiscated their estates, among whom was the Earl of Burlington ( who was also Earl of Cork ).
