The French can respond in three ways. They can feel guilty and appease the rioters with prerogatives and the “ massive investment plan ” some are demanding. Or they can heave a sigh of relief when it ends and, as they did after earlier crises , return to business as usual. On the fateful day of Dec. 17, he dragged his unlicensed wooden fruit cart loaded with produce as usual to the market at 10 a.m. Two police officers along the way - one of them Fadiya Hamdi (also spelled Fedya Hamdi), female, age 36 and an 11-year force veteran - began helping themselves to his fruits. Officer Fadiya Hamdi provoked Bouazizi. अधिकारी हमदी को क्रोध आ गया और वह फल बाजार में बउजीजी के पास गयी। उसने बउजीजी से एक टोकरा सेब लेकर अपनी कार में जब्त कर लिया। जब वह अधिक फल के लिये लौट कर आई तो बउजीजी ने उसके मार्ग को अवरुद्ध करने का प्रयास किया और बउजीजी के निकट के स्टाल में कार्य करने वाले अला अल दीन अल बदरी के अनुसार जब बउजीजी ने हमदी का मार्ग अवरुद्ध कर उसे रोकने का प्रयास किया तो उसने बउजीजी को धक्का दिया और अपनी पुलिस वाली बेंत से पिटाई भी की।
