These included : the introduction of mechanical cream separators in the 1880s; Babcock testing to accurately measure cream content in milk; The Meat and Dairy Encouragement Act 1893 which made provision for government loans to construct butter and cheese factories; and the Department of Agriculture and Stock's use of a " Travelling Dairy " to demonstrate techniques and equipment to potential dairy farmers throughout Queensland.
