The overall objective of the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka ( hereinafter referred to as the GOSL ) and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam ( hereinafter referred to as the LTTE ) is to find a negotiated solution to the ongoing ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka.

Then the SVCMD was renamed as Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies ( SVIAS ) and established by the Gazette Notification of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka ( No . 1392 / 22 of 03.06.2005 ) under the order made by the section 24 B of the University Act.

It has created as a Special Agency by His Excellency the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the exercise of powers vested in him by Article 33 of the Constitution, aiming to assist the Government to plan, coordinate and facilitate research in Science and Technology so as to build a vibrant national scientific and technological community in the country to derive the maximum benefit.

The Sri Lanka Armed Forces is the overall unified military of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka encompassing the Sri Lanka Army, the Sri Lanka Navy, the Sri Lanka Air Force which comes under preview of the Ministry of Defence ( Sri Lanka ) ( MOD ) . They received military support from mainly India, China, Pakistan, Israel and Russia . United States and India also gives limited support such as training.

It is to be noted that service in the armed services of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka not involving whole time military service, shall not reckon as qualifying service for the medal, except that when such Reserves or Volunteer Force are mobilized, embodied or called out on active service in an emergency, the period during which a member of such Reserves of Volunteer Forces is actually employed on whole-time service, shall reckon as qualifying service.

The emblem of the Republic of Sri Lanka consisting of the figure of a lion which being the totem of the Sri Lankan people set in the centre circle of the reverse of the medal encircled by a border of a lotus-flower motif and also by a decorative paddy-ear pattern running round same and a Dharmachakkra positioned atop the design with a Punkalasa ( Cornucopia ) at the base, rising sun at right and moon at left with the Sinhala inscription emblem of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka printed prominently at the bottom of the design.

The 20 Contracting Parties to ReCAAP are Australia, the People s Republic of Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the People s Republic of China, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Republic of India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Lao People s Democratic Republic, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Kingdom of Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
