The idea originated with Lyndon LaRouche, one of the most prolific, original, and bizarre of U.S. conspiracy theorists. Just after the 1980 election, one LaRouche magazine ( Executive Intelligence Review , 2 December 1980) first laid out the conspiracy theory, then another one repeated it three years later ( New Solidarity , 2 September 1983). The idea attracted minimal attention, however, until the Iran-Contra scandal of late 1986 seemed to fulfill the terms of the alleged deal. The former president of Iran, Abol Hassan Bani Sadr, tentatively tried out this theory in an article on 12 April 1987 in the Miami Herald . When commentators in the United States (Christopher Hitchens in particular, writing in The Nation , 4-11 July 1987) endorsed the idea, Bani Sadr felt emboldened to make ever-larger and more elaborate claims (the New York Times , 3 August 1987; the Miami Herald , 9 August 1987; and an August 1987 interview [Cockburn, 192-3; 281]). इस सोच के जनक लियानडे लारूईस अमेरिका के सबसे बड़े षड़यन्त्र सिद्धान्तवादी हैं, जिनका सिद्धान्त चुनाव के तुरन्त बाद 2 सितम्बर 1980 फिर उसके तीन साल बाद ( New Solidarity ) 2 सितम्बर 1983 में प्रकाशित हुआ। इस पर लोगों का ध्यान न के बराबर गया।

To permit Israeli soldiers effectively to prevent armaments from reaching Gaza, David Eshel of Defense Update argued in 2009 for the IDF taking back the Philadelphi Corridor and increasing its size to “a fully sterile security line of about 1,000 meters,” even though this would mean having to relocate about 50,000 Gaza residents. The Zurich mosque and minaret. Swiss voters endorsed a referendum in 2009 banning minarets by at 58-42 margin, a vote more significant for its ratio than its policy implications, which were roughly nil. Public opinion polling at that time found that other Europeans shared these views roughly in these same proportions. Polling also shows a marked hardening of views over the years on these topics. 2010 : After Derek Fenton burned three pages of a Koran at a 9/11 memorial ceremony, his employer, New Jersey Transit, got Christie's approval to fire him. But plenty of other Muslims have other views. Writing in Canada's Edmonton Sun , Salim Mansur found John McCain the “more worthy candidate.” Yusif al-Qaradawi , the Al-Jazeera sheikh, endorsed McCain for opposite reasons: “This is because I prefer the obvious enemy who does not hypocritically [conceal] his hostility toward you… to the enemy who wears a mask [of friendliness].” Al-Qaradawi also argued that twice as many Iraqis died during Bill Clinton's two administrations than during George W. Such shambles should come as no surprise, for as the late Lord Bauer and others have noted, foreign aid does not work. It corrupts and distorts an economy; and the greater the amounts involved, the greater the damage. One telling detail: at times during Yasir Arafat's reign, a third of the Palestinian Authority's budget went for “expenses of the President's office,” without further explanation, auditing, or accounting.
