Labour argued for greater flexibility and accommodation with the Arabs, Likud called for a tougher stance. Every one of Israel's 11 prime ministers came from the two of them, not a single one came from the plethora of others. The two parties together suffered a long-term decline in popularity but they jointly remained the pivots and kingmakers of Israel electoral life. मूल रुप में यह कार्य व्यापार के पुराने ढर्रे पर लौटने का संकेत है . 1948 में इजरायल के अस्तित्व में आने के बाद से अरब के साथ संबंधों को लेकर इसके राजनीतिक जीवन में लेबर और लिकुड क्रमश: वामपंथी और दक्षिणपंथी धाराओं का प्रतिनिधित्व करती रही हैं .लेबर ने सदैव लचीलेपन और अरब के साथ समायोजन की बात की .जबकि लिकुड ने सख्त रवैया अपनाया . इजरायल के 11 प्रधानमंत्रियों में से सभी इन दोनों में से आए . कोई एक भी अन्य धारा से नहीं आया . इन दोनों दलों ने एक साथ दीर्घगामी स्तर पर लोकप्रियता में ह्रास का काल देखा लेकिन संयुक्त रुप से इजरायल के निर्वाचन की धुरी और किंगमेकर बने रहे .

One major way in which studies of law have proceeded has been to “compare doctrine with the actual practice of the court.” As one scholar discussing scriptural and legal texts notes, “Social patterns were in great contrast to the 'official' picture presented by these 'formal' sources.” Studies often juxtapose flexible and relatively fair court outcomes with an undifferentiated and sometimes harshly patriarchal textual tradition of jurisprudence. We are shown proof of “the flexibility within Islamic law that is often portrayed as stagnant and draconian.” कानून का अध्ययन जिस प्रकार आगे बढा है उसका एक बडा रास्ता यह रहा है कि “ सिद्धांत की तुलना न्यायालय में वास्तविक अनुपालन से की जानी चाहिये” । एक विद्वान ने आध्यात्मिक और कानूनी पाठ्य पर चर्चा करते हुए लिखा, “ औपचारिक स्रोतों के द्वारा प्रस्तुत किये चित्र और सामाजिक व्यवहार में काफी विरोधाभास रहा है” । अध्ययन से पता चलता है कि लचीले और अपेक्षाकृत निष्पक्ष न्यायालयीन निर्णय अनेक बार न बदलने वाले और कठोर पाठ्य की परम्परा से जुडे होते हैं। हमें ऐसे प्रमाण मिलते हैं कि “ इस्लामी कानून में भी लचीलापन है जिसे कि आम तौर पर जड और क्रूर चित्रित किया जाता है” ।

More broadly, the U.S.-Israel bond has strengths that go far beyond politicians and issues of the moment. Nothing on earth resembles this bilateral, “ the most special ” of special relationships and “ the family relationship of international politics .” Like any family tie, it has high points (Israel ranks second, behind only the United States, in number of companies listed on NASDAQ) and low ones (the Jonathan Pollard espionage affair continues to rankle a quarter century after it broke). The tie has a unique intensity when it comes to strategic cooperation, economic connections, intellectual ties, shared values, United Nations voting records , religious commonalities, and even mutual interference in each other's internal affairs. From Israel's perspective, then, political relations with the Arabs are freighted but those with Washington have a lightness and flexibility. अधिक विस्तार में अमेरिका और इजरायल के बंधन की शक्ति राजनेताओं और तात्कालिक मह्त्व के मुद्दों से आगे बढ कर है। पृथ्वी पर कहीं भी इस प्रकार का “ सबसे विशेष” और अंतरराष्ट्रीय राजनीति का पारिवारिक सम्बंध देखने को नहीं मिलता। पारिवारिक बंधन की भाँति ( अमेरिका के बाद इजरायल दूसरा देश है जिसकी नास्डैक पर सबसे अधिक कम्पनियाँ सूचीबद्ध हैं) इसमें भी उतार चढाव आते रहते हैं ( जोनाथन पोलार्ड का गुप्तचरी का मामला इसके सामने आने के पचीस वर्षों बाद तक चलता रहा )। जब रणनीतिक सहयोग, आर्थिक सम्पर्क , बौद्धिक सम्बंध और साझे मूल्यों की बात आती है, संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघ में मत का रिकार्ड , धार्मिक समानता और एक दूसरे के आंतरिक मामलों में पारस्परिक हस्तक्षेप की बात आती है तो इस सम्बंध की तीव्रता अद्वितीय है।
