Jimenez demobilized with the Central Bol�var Bloc of the AUC in early 2005 and was jailed under the terms of the Law of Peace and Justice which pardoned time in jail if the paramilitary groups collaborated with authorities telling the truth about their crimes and economically " repairing " the victims or their families.

He has Bachelor of Arts ( BA Philosophy ) and Bachelor of Laws ( LLB ) degrees from the University of the Philippines, and a Master of Law ( LLM ) degree specializing in International Law ( Human Rights, Law of Peace, and Settlement of International Disputes ) from Cambridge University as a member of St . Edmund's College through a joint British Chevening and Cambridge Overseas Trust Scholarship.
