We have seen earlier that the Pashupatha Shaiva monks lived in temples or mathas attached to them . हम पहले देख चुके हैं कि पाशुपत शैव सन्यासी मंदिरों अथवा उनसे जुड़े मठों में निवास करते थे .

Whenever a monk of any description came their way , Subhas and his group would rush to him . जब भी , जैसा भी संन्यासी-वैरागी राह में आता , सुभाष और उनकी सभा के लड़के उसके इर्द-गिर्द जुट जाते .

It is said once gain by monk said to Sudhodhan that his child will be a grat king or famous person in his life कहा जाता है कि फिर एक ऋषि ने शुद्धोधन से कहा कि वे या तो एक महान राजा बनेंगे या एक महान साधु ।

The next morning the Buddha , as customary among monks , took his bowl and set out to beg . गौतम बुद्ध एक भिक्षु हो गये थे अत : दूसरे दिन प्रात : वे भिखापात्र हाथ में लेकर भिक्षा मांगने निकल पड़े .

The venerable monk Ananda , a disciple of the Buddha found the headpiece after everybody had left . जब भाषण समाप्त हुआ और लोग चले गये तब गौतम बुद्ध के प्रमुख शिष्य भिक्षु आनंद की नजर उस आभूषण पर पड़ी .

While the nga chung and the mchod nga used by wandering monks are common , there is also the fantastic thod nga . परिव्राजक भिक्षुओं द्वारा बजाये जाने वाले न्गा चंग तथा मचोड चंग जहां आम हैं , वहीं थोड न्गा बहुत अद्भुत है .

And he requested the teacher , “ Great sage , I shall consider it an honour if you and the reverend monks would come and have a meal at my palace . ” मैं आपका हृदय से आभारी रहूंगा Zयदि आप अपने शिष्यजनों के साथ हमारे राजमहल में भोजन करने पधारें . ? ?

The name suggests that he belonged to Lakulisha-Pashupata Shaiva sect , and was a monk residing in the temple premises . नाम से अनुमान होता है कि वह लाकुलीश-पाशुपत शैवसम्प्रदाय से संबद्ध था.वह भिक्षु था और मंदिर के अहाते में ही रहता था .

We read in the inscriptions that he was God-fearing and that he donated gifts liberally to the Shaiva monks of the Kalamukha sect . अभिलेख यह भी बताते हैं कि वह धर्ममीरू था तथा उसने कालमुख सम्प्रदाय के शैव सन्यासियों को उदारतापूर्वक दान दिया .

Helped by some kindly monks he was on his way to the Buddha , but before he could reach the Master he died with a prayer to the Buddha on his lips . कुछ भिक्षुओं ने सहायता करके देवदत्त को उठाया और उसे गौतम बुद्ध के पास ले चले पर मार्ग में ही उसने दम तोड़ दिया .
