Marx s theory of primitive accumulation describes how the capitalist system needs to continually expand into non-capitlaist sectors which would have originally taken place through imperialism . which refers to this notion of expansion but considers it inherent within the capitalist system, which will find ways other than imperialism to achieve its goal.

In his book " Das Kapital ", in Chapter 26 entitled " The Secret of Primitive Accumulation " and Chapter 27, " Expropriation of the Agricultural Population from the Land ", Marx claimed that the feudal relationships of serfdom were violently transformed into private property and free labour : free of possession and free to sell their labour force on the market.

In fact Marx argues that the original or primitive accumulation of capital often occurs through violence, plunder, slavery, robbery, extortion and theft . He argues that the capitalist mode of production requires that people be forced to work in value-adding production for someone else, and for this purpose, they must be cut off from sources of income other than selling their labor power.
