Danajon Bank is home to a vast array of commercially valuable reef fishes, shellfish, crustaceans and invertebrates such as sea cucumbers and sea urchins . Its extensive seagrass beds are nursery and feeding grounds for various species of rabbitfish ( " siganid " s ) and sea horses, while its mangroves are spawning habitats for crustaceans, shrimps and various fishes.

Visitors who do come seem to enjoy these exhibits, but on a recent weekday there was audibly more interest on the second floor of the aquarium, where people clustered around small tanks of brilliantly colored-- non-New Jersey-- tropical fish : peacock flounder, spotted scorpionfish, lion fish, orange-spinned unicorn fish, foxface rabbitfish and clown triggerfish.
