Ed and I have kept in touch over the years, and I was very happy to hear from him last week because for the last month I have been pigheadedly and unproductively flyrodding the inlet side of Brooklyn's Breezy Point, which is a beautiful, wind-protected stretch with gentle surf at the tip of the Rockaways.

:I should note that, in practical examples, it's very seldom a wise idea to sleep while you're holding a monitor, as it unproductively blocks other threads trying to enter that monitor for the duration of the sleep, as java . lang .
