According to a report prepared by an expert committee under the chairmanship of Mr. J.L.N. Srivastava, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, the present installed capacity, which needs to be raised to 123 lakh tonnes with an investment of Rs. 650 crores in the next 5 years, of cold storages in the country for the storage of potatoes is 103 lakh tonnes. श्री जे एल एन श्रीवास्तव, अतिरिक्त सचिव, कृषि मंत्रालय, की अध्यक्षता में एक विशेषज्ञ समिति द्वारा तैयार की गई एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार आलू का संग्रहण करने के लिये देश में शीतागारों की वर्तमान संस्थापित क्षमता १०३ लाख टन है जिसे अगले पाँच वर्षों में ६५० करोड़ रु. के निवेश के ज़रिये बढ़ा कर १२३ लाख टन करने की आवश्यकता है.
