As stated earlier , when earlier attempts of the missionaries failed , in 1726 Father Charles de Montalembart in a letter to the French Governor offered to establish a factory in these islands and in 1741 he came to identify a favourable spot for a factory for the French East India Company . जब ईसाई धर्म प्रचारकों के प्रारम्भिक प्रयास असफल हो गए तो 1726 में फादर चार्ल्स दे मोन्टेलीमबार्ट ने फ्रांसिसी गवर्नर को एक पत्र लिखा जिसमें उसने इन द्वीपों में एक कारखाना खोलने का प्रस्ताव दिया और 1741 में फ्रांसिसी ईस्ट इंडिया के लिए उपयुक्त स्थान ढूंढने की दृष्टि से वह यहां पर आया .
