The great temple at Thanjavur , appropriately called the Brihadisvara , or the Rajarajesvara after its builder Rajaraja I , conceived as a whole complex on a grand scale and completed by the founder , constitutes the most ambitious undertaking and achievement of the Tamilian architect . तंजावुर का महान मंदिर , जिसे बृहदीश्वर कहा जाना उपयुक़्त ही है , अपने निर्माता राजराजा प्रथम के नाम पर राजराजेश्वर भी कहलाता है.इसकी परिकल्पना विशाल स्तर पर एक संपूर्ण परिसर के रूप में की गई थी और इसका निर्माण उसके संस्थापक द्वारा ही पूरा करवा लिया गया था .
