It is proposed over an area of about 40.5 km 2 ( 10000 acres ) in Bhubaneswar in the region ecompassing Infocity-I and Infocity-II . The Detailed Project Report ( DPR ) is being prepared by IL & FS Infrastructures Ltd in collaboration with the state-owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corp ( IDCO ).

The detailed engineering study for the project was carried out by Wilbur Smith Associates Inc . ( WSA ) during 1998-99 . Detailed traffic analysis and forecast for the road was carried out by WSA in 1998 as part of the detailed engineering and design of the JVLR . A detailed project report was prepared by Wilbur Smith Associates in 1998.

On 15 June 2015, the MMRDA announced that it would implement Line 2 of the metro in three parts-Dahisar East-DN Nagar ( Metro 2A ), DN Nagar-BKC ( Metro 2B ), and BKC-Mankhurd ( Metro 2C ), and also appointed the DMRC to conduct a feasibility study and detailed project report for the line.

The completion period for NW-4 was estimated at seven years by Detailed Project Report prepared by WAPCOS, which is contrary to that of 2002 estimates which indicated five years as completion period . of land are required for NW-4 construction;,, and land has to be acquired in the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry respectively.
