In recent years, due to its ability to replicate a mandrel surface very precisely with practically no loss of fidelity, electroforming has taken on new importance in the fabrication of micro and nano scale metallic devices and in producing precision injection moulds with micro and nano scale features for production of non-metallic micro-moulded objects.

Production by this latter method, known as the " two-step-process " ( as it does not entail creation of " sons " but does involve creation of " mothers ", which are used for test playing and kept as " safeties " for electroforming future " sons " ) is limited to a few hundred vinyl pressings.

In 1890 they acquired the " Kunstanstalt f�r Galvanoplastik M�nchen ", which specialized in electrotyping and electroforming of statues and statuettes for buildings, fountains, tombstones, and gardens; this became the " Abteilung f�r Galvanoplastik " ( Galvanoplastic Division ) of WMF . During the 1920s, " Abteilung f�r Galvanoplastik " was producing reproductions of large-scale Italian Renaissance bronze works for an American clientele.
