The Kettle Valley Railway, part of the C . P . R ., originally purchased the coal for their steam engines, but quickly discovered that it burned too hot and warped the firebox grates, a similar problem to that experienced by the locals when used in their stoves.

The carrier operates its trains between a point on the international boundary at Danville, Wash ., and Grand Forks, British Columbia, and between Grand Forks and Lynch Creek, British Columbia, distances of approximately 4 and 18 miles, respectively, over the tracks of the Kettle Valley Railway Company, an affiliated line located in the Dominion of Canada.

The Kettle Valley Railway, which ran along the East side of Okanagan Lake, as well as the construction of the highway along the West side and also the Great Depression in the 1930s contributed to " Sicamous " losing money for the CPR . As a result, the CPR decided to renovate " Sicamous ", removing the Texas Deck and two thirds of the observation deck.
