The exhibition has carefully posed portraits of women clothed and nude, women grandly dressed, rapid sketches of women sitting, standing and lying awake and asleep; women holding children, soothing, dressing and cooking for them; servants at windows and beggars seeking alms; women reading and having their hair done; women of the Bible and of history and myth, and women treated lasciviously by men.
