Constitutional government in ancient India The concepts of democracy , representative institutions , limitations on the arbitrary powers of the rulers , and rule of law were not alien to India in the hoary past . प्राचीन भारत में संवैधानिक शासन-प्रणाली लोकतंत्र , प्रतिनिधि-संस्थान , शासकों की स्वेच्छाचारी शक्तियों पर अंकुश और विधि के शासन की संकल्पनाएं प्राचीन भारत के लिए पराई नहीं थीं .
