The antemedial fascia of the forewings is edged distally by large brown maculations and there is a small dark discocellular spot, as well as a large brown maculation distal to the end of the cell.

The color of the shell is yellowish brown or ash-color, often with fine close chestnut revolving lines, with large white spots and maculations usually forming an interrupted central band and another at the shoulder.
43.
The forewings are light brown irregularly shaded with darker scaling, the maculation is as for " Thioscelis directrix " except for the subterminal and terminal transverse lines, which are solid, and irregular black shading at the apex.
44.
It can be distinguished from similar species by the more irregular pale subterminal line, concentration of dark sagittate marks proximal to the subterminal line to the area distal to the reniform spot, and other characters of maculation, antenna, and male genitalia.
45.
This species is easily recognized by the short subnodulous ribs, which occupy scarcely the lower half of the whorls, the depression round the middle and the raised band above, and the manner of coloration, the purplish-brown maculations being somewhat flexuous in the depression.
