Under the citizenship provisions , there is only one citizenship for all the people of India and no double citizenship of the Union and of the States as in the United States . नागरिकता संबंधी उपबंधों के अधीन , भारत के समस्त लोगों को इकहरी नागरिकता प्रदान की गई है ; अमरीका की भांति संघ तथा राज्यों की दोहरी नागरिकता नहीं है .

Even in the specifically assigned areas a subject in the State List , i.e . , falling within the sphere exclusively reserved for the States ceases to be so reserved in certain circumstances under which the Union Parliament may legislate in that subject area also . राज़्यों को राज़्य सूची मं विशेष रूप से सौंपे गए विषयों के संबंध में भी , कुछ परिस्थितियों में , संसद विधान बना सकती है .
