Dec. 27, 2007 update : Readers have taken the premise of this column - that foreign aid is counterproductive - to ask me two questions, which I thought best to reply to publicly here. Does this same logic apply to Israel? Yes, in my view, it does. Views like these echo through the campuses, confirming that universities remain, as they have been since the mid-1960s, the most radical, adversarial and alienated major institution in American life.
