| 1. | 1 / 2 large head romaine lettuce, rinsed and patted dry

| 2. | Rinse inside of pepper with water to remove any remaining seeds.

| 3. | Wash canning jars in hot, soapy water and rinse well.

| 4. | Remove from heat and rinse any ash from ginger and onion.

| 5. | 1 medium leek, rinsed well and diced, white part only

| 6. | 1 pound medium shrimp, peeled, deveined, rinsed and drained

| 7. | 1 can ( 16 ounces ) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
|
| 8. | Rinse shrimp in cold water, drain and place in bowl.
|
| 9. | The next day, rinse beans and cover with cold water.
|
| 10. | Rinse chicken with cool water and pat dry with paper towels.
