He has held the Chair of the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Very Large Scale Integration since September 2014.
2.
At present, there are 26 TCs in IEEE-CS to cover various constituencies of Computer Science and Computer Engineering, such as Very Large Scale Integration ( VLSI ), Internet, database, embedded system.
3.
The improvements in Very Large Scale Integrations technology ( VLSI ) and the availability of the high computational power provided by System-on-a-Chip ( SoC ) has enabled development of highly sophisticated embedded applications.
4.
These large-scale technological program demonstrations were joined by integrated circuit research, which resulted in submicrometer electronic technology and electron devices that evolved into the Very Large Scale Integration ( VLSI ) Program and the Congressionally mandated charged particle beam program.
5.
Finally, powerful Place and Route ( PNR ) tools may be used to pull everything together and " synthesize " ( generate ) Very Large Scale Integration ( VLSI ) layouts, in an automated fashion, from higher level design netlists and floor-plans.

From 1999 to 2000, Wolf was editor-in-chief of " IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration Systems ", and from 2001 to 2007, Wolf was editor-in-chief of " ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing ".
7.
After stepping down between 2006 2008, to focus on co-founding the international " Alliance for Nanosystems VLSI " ( very large scale integration ) and to pursue collaborative research on NEMS VLSI in connection with a " Chaire d Excellence " in Nanoscience in Grenoble ( with scientists at CEA / LETI-Minatec ), Roukes returned as co-Director of the KNI in 2008.

A TC serves as the focal point of the various technical activities within a technical discipline which influences standards development, conferences, publications, and educational activities of IEEE-CS . The Technical Committee on Very Large Scale Integration ( TCVLSI ) is constituency of the IEEE Computer Society ( IEEE-CS ) which addresses the interactions among the various aspects of VLSI design including system-level design, logic-level design, circuit-level design, and semiconductor processes.
