The roof was evidently a vault made up of corbelled brickwork that was plastered and perhaps also cribbed inside with wooden ribs and crosspieceson the analogy of an earlier rock-cut chaitya of the same plan . मेहराब में भीतर की और लकड़ी से आड़ी तिरछी आधार भित्ति-सी बनाई गई थी.जैसी कि चट्टान काटकर बनाए गए एक पूर्ववर्ती चैत्य में भी विद्यमान थी .

The cornice , which was till now thick and curved down , becomes large , much thin and with a double flexure , and extends far forward , often showing the imitation in stone of the wooden ribs of the frame-work supporting it . कोर्निस , जो अभी तक मोटे और नीचे झुके हुए थे , बड़े , अधिक पतले और दुहरे मोड़ युक़्त हो गए और काफी आगे तक बढ़ गए और प्राय : उसे अवलंब देने वाले ढांचे की काठ की तीलियों की पाषाण अनुकृति से प्रतीत होते हैं .
