The fruit's skin contains a strongly irritating oil composed mostly of anacardic acid, cardol, cardanol and other aromatic compounds.

I have not looked further into this, but the the possible culprits could be : anacardic acid, cardol, urushiol ( as you say, the resin or oil ).
