Deepavali is important to Sikhs also because it is on this day the foundation-stone (Shilanyas ceremony) of the Golden Temple of Amritsar was laid in the year 1577. सिक्खों के लिए भी दीवाली महत्त्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि इसी दिन ही अमृतसर में १५७७ में स्वर्ण मन्दिर का शिलान्यास हुआ था।
