The Mu ' tazilites asserted the principle of free-will as against predestination , and maintained that the divine attributes of God should not be regarded as co-existent with God , because that would destroy the concept of the unity of God . मोतजिलियों ने पूर्व-निर्धारित सिद्धांतों का अनुगमन करने के बजाय इच्छा-स्वातंत्र्य पर बल दिया और कहा कि उल्लाह के जो दिव्य गुण हैं उन्हें अल्लाह के सहवर्ती गुण नहीं मानना चाहिए क़्योंकि ऐसा करने से अल्लाह की वहदत ( ऐक़्य ) का विचार ही नष्ट हो जाएगा .
