The choice of this area was due to.the fact that the softer trap rocks were more easy to work on than the hard granites or gneisses , as in Gaya . इसका मूल कारण यही था कि यहां की चट्टानें गया जैसी अति कठोर न होकर कुछ कम कठोर थीं तथा उसकी फंदानुमा बनावट , इस प्रकार के निर्माणों के लिए अधिक उपयुक़्त थी .

THE MONOLITHIC VIMANA FORMS While the Chalukyas of Badami started constructing structural temples of the very tractable sandstone closely following their earlier excavated rock-cut cave-temples in the same type of rock , the Pallavas were faced with a very hard and intractable materialthe granites and charnockites . एकाशऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-मक विमान का रूप विधान जबकि बादामी के चालुकऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-यो ने उसी नर्म बालुकाशऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-म के संरचनातऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-मक ह्यइमारतीहृ मंदिरों का निर्माण आरंभ किया , उनके पूर्वजों में कटे गुर्फामुदिर बनाये थे.पलऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-लवों का सामना बहुत कठोर सामग्री-ग्रेनाइट और चार्नोकाइट से हुआ .
