| 1. | It appears as a red macule or plaque with well-demarcated borders.

| 2. | Hypopigmented skin macules have occasionally been reported.

| 3. | The lesions may be macules ( flat ), papules ( raised ), or nodular.

| 4. | EDP initially presents as grey or blue-brown circumferential or irregularly shaped macules or patches that appear.

| 5. | Deep hemangiomas present as poorly defined, bluish macules that can proliferate into papules, nodules or larger tumors.

| 6. | Smallpox virus preferentially attacks skin cells, causing the characteristic pimples ( called macules ) associated with the disease.

| 7. | The resulting uncontrolled HPV infections result in the growth of scaly macules and papules, particularly on the hands and feet.

| 8. | EDP does not usually have symptoms beside the macules and patches of discolored skin; however, some itching in these areas may occur.

| 9. | Children usually begin to show symptoms during the second decade of life, and myoclonus and cherry-red macules are often the initial symptoms.

| 10. | Patients present with itchy, painful, confluent, violaceous or brown-black macules, papules or plaques usually at the distal lower limbs.
