The itai-itai -LRB- ouch-ouch -RRB- ' disease involving skeletal deformities was so called because it led to multiple fractures arising from osteomalacia -LRB- a disease resulting in softening of bones -RRB- . हड्डियों में विकृति लाने वाली इटाई-इटाई ( आउच-आउच ) बीमारी को यह नाम इसलिए मिला क्योंकि इस बीमारी में हड्डियों के मुलायम होने से अनेक हड्डियां टूट जाती हैं .
