A demonstration farm for coconut , banana , papaya and tuber crops was established just near the settlement and the Onges were encouraged to take up work on daily wages and a shop was also opened to teach them the use of monetary economy . ओंगियों में बागवानी के प्रति रुचि जगाने की दृष्टि से उनकी बस्ती के समीप एक नारियल , केले , पपीता तथा कन्द-मूल आदि का फार्म बनाया गया तथा उन्हें फार्म में रोजाना मजदूरी पर काम करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया गया तथा एक दुकान भी खोली गई ताकि वे रुपए पैसे का लेन-देन भी समझ सकें .
