The study warned that should Thailand continue on the course charted by the IMF, the government is likely to lead the country into a condition of " long-term stagnation from which it will be very difficult to recover " . " The courage that Thailand's leaders need at present is not the courage to implement the ersatz reforms demanded by the IMF but the courage to break with the Fund and its stagnationist prescriptions ."
